Job overview
This role is working in the Highways team within JPP Consulting Ltd who provide a design and detailing service for a wide range of clients and schemes both locally and nationally. Our diverse portfolio includes multi-storey residential blocks, new housing schemes, schools and commercial developments ranging from small individual projects up to multi-million-pound schemes.
Responsibilities and duties
Working within a civils team of Senior Engineers, Engineers and Technicians, the role will be varied and will include:
- Under supervision and support from experienced engineers and technicians, the role utilises and applies BIM techniques throughout all stages of the project. This predominantly includes production of CAD drawing
- Revise and update drawings as required
- Work within an established design team on a range of commercial, educational and residential projects, providing technician support in all aspects. Assist in team design reviews in order to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations to resolve problems
- Work with other teams to obtain information for drawings
- Responsible for controlling quality of their drawings and other key deliverables.
- Co-ordination with senior technicians to ensure consistent standards are provided
- Read and understand 2D and 3D drawings
- Comply with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and procedural standards
Qualifications and training
As part of the JPP Group, Technicians will be encouraged to attend continuous professional development training offered to all employees by both internal and external trainers. Technicians will also be required to attend mandatory training provided.
Software
Technicians will have the opportunity to work on various industry software including;
- AutoCAD (including Vehicle Tracking) – for drafting and detailing
- Civil 3D – for 3D ground and road modelling
- Microdrainage – for drainage design
- PDS – for road design, drainage design, traffic sign design and road marking design
