Job overview
This role is working within RSS who are an industry leading structural engineering practice working within the residential construction sector. We offer engineering expertise in the following areas:
SubstructureDesign
Superstructure Design
Bridge & Culvert Design
Design Coordinator
Responsibilities and duties
Working within the structures team, the role will be varied and include but is not limited to:
- Analysis, design and detailing of various structures / structural elements including:
- Isolated steelwork (e.g. domestic extensions)
- Steel frames (e.g. portal sheds, office buildings)
- Concrete frames (e.g. multi-storey apartment blocks)
- Foundations (e.g. spread footings, pile, beams and caps)
- Retaining walls
- Timber floor systems
- Load bearing masonry (e.g. care homes)
- Production of clear and well-presented design, drawings, reports, specifications and other engineering documentation.
- Site visits to inspect progress of schemes, answer contractor queries and obtain existing information to inform subsequent design.
- Attendance of Design Team Meetings to establish client briefs, develop structural schemes and present and discuss designs carried out.
- Comply with company design, quality, environmental and Health & Safety compliance and procedural standards.
- A desire to work on a variety of project types and learn new skills to meet the needs of our clients and the business.
Qualifications and training
As part of RSS and the JPP Group you will be encouraged to attend CPD training offered to all employees both by internal and external trainers.
Software
You will have the opportunity to work on various industry software including AutoCAD, Revit, CADS, Analysis Suite, Robot, SCIA, Tekla and Tedds.
